The Arriva专辑介绍
The artist I am writing my review on is Keith Merrow. A week or so ago I stumbled upon his work while browsing a guitar forum for suggestions on a purchase, there his video was clearly posted on the front page; as if he was the “hero off to war” from his local town. Intrigued I clicked the link; a YouTube fan I must admit I am, and started by reading the description of the song as instrumental-metal. I listened to a few songs off of his latest EP “The Arrival”; the songs I first encountered were “Shorted Out” and “The Arrival”. Conveniently all of Keith’s songs are free for download from his website, a message about his music in my eyes; a man striving to be noticed in a world with millions of sounds, trying to stand out. My review will be focusing mainly on what I think about these two songs, how they are put together and categorized, and how I feel about them. I will also briefly mention the other songs in the album and there importance to me. I feel honored for one to be able to review Keith’s work as I believe it represents Popular Culture very well in the music world, the ever-changing sounds and creations put together by artists, and the change in styles and what people like one year, and then find something new to like the next. What I mean by this in terms of Keith’s albums is in its’ description alone, “Instrumental-metal”. Personally when I think of Metal it is screaming, ear piercing hatred, and lyrics of anger and hostility. I don’t know if these people have problems with their fathers, or if they were born to growl and squeal. But the instrumental notion brings another part to this genre, a whole nether outlook on it, categorized outside of typical rock, and metal in general. I feel Keith’s approach to this is excellent and will prove very successful for the future of his music, as in my honest opinion; He is changing popular culture in my eyes, and ears.....
