Coma Witch专辑介绍

Coma Witch is the upcoming seventh studio album by American band The Acacia Strain. It is set for release on October 14, 2014. It is the band's first album to feature new guitarists Devin Shidaker and Richard Gomez, and the first album to not feature longtime guitarist Daniel "DL" Laskiewicz due to his departure from the band in May 2013.

The Acacia Strain are often referred to as the heaviest band around, and any doubt of this claim will surely be silenced when they unleash their new album, "Coma Witch", on October 14th through Rise Records. The band has gone through several lineup changes and only vocalist Vincent Bennett remains for the original 2001 lineup. Rounding out the lineup are longtime drummer Kevin Boutot and bassist Jack Strong and the guitar additions of Devin Shidaker and Richard Gomez.

The Acacia Strain are pioneers of the Deathcore genre (just don't ever say that around Vincent Bennett he has gone on record to say that "deathcore is the new nu-metal. It sucks. And if anyone calls us 'deathcore' then I might do something very bad to them". Over the past 13 years they've been releasing albums that have stood the test of time and become "must have" staples in the metal core community.

The opening disc of this 2 disc album starts off with a great soundbite on "Human Disaster". You can feel the band is about to erupt in the background, as soon as you hear the vocals "rest in peace" the band goes nuts and once they do you can not stop moving with them. The track is done masterfully. If the opening is any indication about the album you can rest assured "Coma Witch" will be a staple in your playlist. The first single from the album "Cauterizer" is good and has some descent breakdowns. The sound is just what you expect from The Acacia Strain a bone-crushing rhythm section, apocalyptic samples, and a unique triple-guitar assault to deliver their signature blend of hardcore punk, noise, death metal and doom metal. "Nailgun" the 2nd single that was streamed on September 25th is showcases the bands talent all the way around. The song is done very well is one of only 2 songs on the first disc to expand the 4 minute mark. Other highlights on the disc include the mosh pit favorite "Holy Walls of the Vatican", "Graveyard Shift" a pulsating haunting song that is sure to make any fan crazy and your ears bleed. "Bridgepainter" will make you think your speakers are broke for the 30 seconds of the song, well done lads. The final track on the first album "Delusionalisphere" ends the first disc just as it started, dark and demonic.

The 2nd disc features the 28 minute "Observer" a metal journey through the woods. The sci-fi esque anthem is done very well. The production aspects and performance take you through the landscape with hardcore abandonment as you serach for the witch. The track is hauntingly fun complete with errie soundbites that send fear down your spine. This track is great for anyone who is into horror and captures everything that makes fusing metal and hardcore elements a proven musical genre. The journey you take on this track is horrific and great.

At the end of the day The Acacia Strain stayed true to what they are a hardcore influenced metal band with great lyrics centered around misanthropy and nihilism. "Coma Witch" is an unstoppable juggernaut if your a fan of bands like Slayer or Pantera mixed with hardcore elements you will love this album. The lineup may have changed but The Acacia Strain sound is here to stay.
