La Mosca y la Sopa专辑介绍
by Iván Adaime
Although the group was previously really popular within the rock scene, Mosca y la Sopa marked its mainstream breakthrough. And for certain it was a curious situation for an independent band that started in the underground scene at the end of the '70s. But it happened: suddenly the band's songs were on every "hits" radio station, helped by smash rock tracks like "Mi Perro Dinamita" y "Un Poco de Amor Francés." There are also lesser-known songs here that show some of the band's finest moments, like "El Pibe de los Astilleros" and "Queso Ruso," the latter with intricate lyrics reflecting the scenario after the first Gulf War. Although is not a masterpiece, this is for certain a fine album and one of the band's most accessible. Overall, any Patricio Rey y Sus Redonditos de Ricota fan ought to own this album. For the uninitiated, this a good starting point. [The CD version includes "Tarea Fina," not available in tape or vinyl]
