Atmospheric death metal band Garden of Shadows was formed from the remaining members of Funeral Opera during 1995. After adding a second guitarist and going through a succession of drummers, the lineup of the Maryland-based band stabilized and, a year later, they took the name Garden of Shadows and commenced to record demos. Selling through a decent run locally, the demos also drew solid reviews from fanzines. In 1998, they signed to X-Rated Records and, after adding a newly recorded track, reissued their original demos. By early the following year, they had moved to Wicked World and toured in the Czech Republic before commencing to recording a new album, Oracle Moon, which was released in the summer of 2000.
