Johnny was born in Tallahassee, FL, and was influenced by his long time idol, Cannonball Aderly, who lived in the same community, and inspired him to become an A&M graduate. Johnny earned a musical scholarship to Florida A&M where he served double-duty as a dedicated student and club musician which helped shape him into a highly regarded musician in Miami and New York alike. An artist of integrity; skill; personality and honesty, he is held in high regard by some as the next Grover Washington, Jr. of our time.
Johnny was a member of the pop/Dance group “Will to Power” (Epic Records), who scored #1 hits with “Baby I Love Your Way/Free Bird Medley”, “Dreamin”, “Say It’s Gonna Rain”, and “Fading Away”. Since departing from the group, Johnny has performed throughout South Florida, from Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago Club in Palm Beach to the Versace mansion in South Beach, including performances with the legendary Ray Charles and his Orchestra in Fort Lauderdale and opening for Kenny G. at Sunfest in West Palm Beach.
