I have spelled this correctly, yes, it IS The Jack, but
this versions intro is found on Live bootleg recordings,
and labled as The Clap. Bon would be talking to the
crowed and explain that The Jack actually means
"The Clap" or Gonnoreah.
The opening vocals where often something like Bon
singing "Gonnerah, Ive just had my first dose, of
gonnerah"
This is the way the song is played live. The intro
here was often played during the 1976 to 1978
period. In some of these versions, there is an extra
verse, but I have not tabbed it that way. I have pretty
much just tabbed the rest of the song out as played
live. Just before the second or 3rd solo, Bon would say
the cure is "some Angus Young penecillian"
Also, I have broken The Clap intro down into a simple
quick basic version. During this intro, Angus would
play that first lead lick, and for about 7 bars after it hold
the guitar up to the amps and let the feed back ring
out. Then he'd do it again, then as shown, the rest of
the band would join in. It won't be hard for you to work
this out.
Guitar Pro doesn't have the right sound effect for
the intro of Malcolms guitar, but if you listen to the
recording, it's all palm mutes till the last note with a few
extra bass notes in between them.
Also note that when returning to the E position after
the A, often you will hear angus and Malcolm using
less muting and getting a little heavier/digging into the
notes and letting them ring a little louder with each bar
untill just playing as normal on the final E bar before the
chorus.
Also, the second solo I tabbed out is a basic example
of what Angus does during it, both the leads and the
ryhtyms often change around, so I left Malcolms part
out and leave it to you to ad lib what you want.
Sometimes they go for a soft sound, almost minor
sounding chords like its a sad country song, other
times they rock the hell out of it. So whatever version
you are jamming along to, just have a listen to what
Malcolm or Angus are doing, and have fun with it.
