The master of classical guitar Andres Segovia
composed a few tunes this being on of his most
acclaimed.
Andres referred to his compositions as "studies" rather
than songs. I have wondered if it was because he did
not want to put himself in the same leagues as well
known composers who were known for their genius of
composition like Torroba or Bach.
What ever the reason he chose to call this "Study of
remembering" or "Estudio Remembranza" (as it is really
known) and not a song may never be known but it is a
great song and if played well can be truly a show
stopper.
While the entire song is mostly running 8th notes pay
close attention to the notes that ring though the
measure. I have provided fingerings that will allow you
to "plant" a finger and let you use your others to play
the runs. It is a bit difficult and is a bitch to memorize
but will be worth it in the end.
I have the song set to the tempo as played by Alirio
Diaz on his CD Masterpieces of the Spanish Guitar. I
suggest you listen to Alirio or Segovia play this song,
then you will understand its magic..a midi simply can
not do it justice. Good luck, youll need it!
